When it comes to creating a flawless makeup finish, I understand the importance of achieving a smooth eye area. The eyes are often the focal point of your makeup look, and having a smooth canvas can make a huge difference. Skincare is just as important as makeup, and taking care of the delicate skin around the eyes is essential to achieving a smooth, youthful look. Here, I share my top tips on how to smooth out the eye area, along with five product recommendations that can help you achieve your desired results.

Top tips for smoothing the eye contour
Tip 1: Hydrate and moisturize
Keeping the skin around your eyes well hydrated is essential to maintaining a soft, smooth complexion. Look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides, which help retain moisture and improve skin elasticity.
Tip 2: Use an eye cream
Adding a good eye cream to your skincare routine is essential to soothe and hydrate the eye area, prevent puffiness, and leave skin smooth and wrinkle-free. The skin around the eyes is delicate and prone to showing signs of aging, so it’s important to give it some extra care.
Tip 3: Gentle cleaning
When removing makeup or cleansing the skin around your eyes, it’s important to be gentle. The skin under and around your eyes can be thin and delicate, and excessive pressure can contribute to fine lines and wrinkles. Use a gentle cleanser and avoid using water that’s too hot or too cold, as these can dry out your skin and make it look dull.
Tip 4: Wear sunglasses
While it’s important to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin, if you apply it too close to your eyes it can cause irritation. Therefore, to fully protect the delicate skin around your eyes, I recommend wearing sunglasses as often as possible. There’s a reason why many celebrities always wear sunglasses outdoors, and it’s not just to protect their privacy!
Tip 5: Massage
Massaging the skin around your eyes can help improve circulation and reduce puffiness. Using very light pressure and one or two fingers, gently massage the area in circular motions, only around the outer corners of your eyes (as the cream will move inwards). Do this when you apply eye cream to ensure the product is fully absorbed. Read my guide to facial massage here.
