Fall is in the air, and with it comes changing leaves, cozy sweaters, and… mushrooms. That’s right! Those colorful little mushrooms that pop up during the fall months are a source of inspiration for our latest craft project: Felt Mushroom Pocket Gnomes. These mushroom gnomes are the perfect miniature companions for all your fall adventures, from pumpkin picking escapades to cozy nights by the fire.

There is no place like Gnome

As it involves some intricate stitching, we consider this an intermediate project. Don’t let that put you off though! If you’re a beginner, this is a great opportunity to practice sewing on a small scale. Or, if you’re looking for a quicker project, you can always opt to glue the pieces together instead of sewing – your mushroom gnome pocket friends will be just as charming! If you need a refresher before you get started, check out our embroidery techniques course to start stitching like a pro!

One of the things we love about this project is that creating these mushroom pocket gnomes is a wonderful way to use up leftover felt from your previous projects. Their deep red caps and earthy tones are a fun nod to the iconic toadstools we often associate with fairy tales and autumnal forests.

Speaking of fairy tales, did you know that mushrooms have a fascinating history and symbolism in many cultures? Often considered magical or mysterious, mushrooms play an important role in folklore. In many stories, they are home to fairies and woodland creatures, adding an aura of charm to our gnome friends. Plus, their small size makes them ideal for little ones or anyone else who likes to bring a little magic with them wherever they go.

As you embark on this crafting adventure, we encourage you to share your creations with us using the hashtag #MadeWithLia. You can also upload your photos to our crafting community once you’re done. We love seeing you bring our ideas to life! Your unique interpretations and personal touches are what makes our community so special.
