We recently decided that we wanted to add a little more personality to our kitchen. After 5 years of living with the renovations, we still loved the cabinets, tile, and design we chose, but we wanted to add even more color and design.
I decided to partner with Love vs. Design to add wallpaper to my kitchen walls that weren’t tiled. They offer three types of removable wallpaper and hundreds of different designs, all customizable to your color palette!
I chose the Floral Stripes wallpaper in custom colors Silk and Merlot and I absolutely loved how it turned out. Today I wanted to share my full Love vs Design review!
Types of removable wallpaper
I’ve previously converted regular wallpaper into removable wallpaper. But this time, I wanted to make things easier and use a ready-made removable wallpaper option, just in case I ever wanted to change it!
The most common type of removable wallpaper you will see on the market is peel and stick. When placed over non-matte paint, this type of wallpaper is easily removed by simply peeling it off.
Love vs Design offers two types of self-adhesive wallpaper: plain and woven. Plain is a traditional semi-matt self-adhesive wallpaper, ideal for bathrooms and kitchens.
The peel and stick fabric is a polyester fabric with a great texture.
They also offer Glissade wallpaper, which is the one we chose. Glissade is a traditional wallpaper that can be installed and removed with water ONLY. Simply use a spray bottle to spray water on both the wall and the back of the wallpaper, which activates the paste and you can stick it directly to the wall.
We chose this option because it is cleanable and therefore ideal for the kitchen space we use it in.
Peel and stick options have a 1″ overlap while Glissade installs edge to edge.
Color customization
In my opinion, the best feature of Love vs. Design wallpapers is the wide range of colors they can be customized in. Most designs can be completely customized, and you can choose from hundreds of shades. This allows you to select colors that perfectly fit your space or the color palette you’re trying to work with.
For our wallpaper we chose the Floral Stripes pattern in Merlot and Silk after ordering samples to select the colors in person.
Sample order
You can request a sample of their wallpaper for $6 and with each sample, you can add an additional color sample sheet for $6 so you can see several shade options for the color you are looking for.
For example, we were trying to match a shade of white to the tiles we already have in our kitchen. In addition to the pattern sample, I was able to order samples of 8 different shades of white so I could see exactly what matched, without having to pay for 8 individual samples!
The samples are a fantastic size at 9″ x 25″, which will give you a real feel for the pattern and material.
They are also a great way to ensure that your wallpaper matches the texture of your wall. Order the sample of the material you are going to use and you can peel and stick it (or water-applied if you choose Glissade) to the wall to test it out.
Measuring for your wallpaper
When measuring wallpaper, you won’t need to consider the location of doors and windows. You just need to measure the height at the highest point in the room. Then, for the width, measure each wall (at its widest point) and add those measurements together.
These two measurements will be the ones you enter on the website when ordering your wallpaper.
Installing removable wallpaper
The wallpaper comes rolled up and with instructions and a squeegee included. Follow the included preparation instructions and installation is fairly straightforward.
Each design comes labeled in panel order so you can easily make sure you get the right pattern, especially if you choose a more mural style.
We had a lot of archways and cabinets to work around when installing this wallpaper, and it’s best to leave an overhang in those spots and trim off the excess later.
Quality and durability of Love vs. Design wallpaper
I loved how thick and substantial the Glissade wallpaper is. It was able to cover small imperfections on our wall easily, without them being noticeable. It is completely opaque. It adhered to our wall easily and beautifully.
I was able to clean it easily without any problems.
Adding this wallpaper completely transformed the look of our kitchen!
Love vs. Design Wallpaper is a great option for renters, homeowners, families with kids, and anyone looking for custom wallpaper at a price that isn’t custom for their homes. I hope you found this Love vs. Design Wallpaper review helpful if you’re debating whether to add some pattern to your home!
