LK Bennett, Alexander McQueen and Emilia Wickstead Autumn Fashion and Carol Concert Planning: What Kate Was Wearing

Hello and welcome to a post covering some of the autumn fashions offered by the stores frequented by the Princess of Wales. First, a couple quick news updates to share. The first is that the Princess met yesterday to start planning her Christmas Carol concert at Westminster Abbey. More from Kristin Contino’s article at Maria Clara.

The Princess of Wales held a planning meeting for her annual Real Christmas Carols: Together at Christmas concert at Windsor Castle, as reported in the palace court circular.

“The Princess of Wales, joint patron of the Prince and Princess of Wales Royal Foundation, held a meeting at Windsor Castle this morning,” the announcement said. And while it may not have revealed much, several outlets confirmed that Tuesday’s meeting was about the holiday season event.

Thanks to my friend Micki for letting me know about this. Below, the Welsh family at last year’s concert.

Additionally, last Sunday, the Prince and Princess of Wales joined the King and Queen at Crathie Kirk Church in Balmoral.

There aren’t many photos and none that I have been able to license. You can see images in the Telegraph, daily mailand other means.

The princess appeared to be wearing her Blazé Milano jacket, the Lahloo Anyway Checked Blazer (sold out), a double-breasted design made of 100% virgin wool with a large crystal box.

The princess was first seen wearing the jacket on Christmas Day 2021 (shown below) when attending church services at St Mary Magdalene Church in the grounds of the Sandringham estate.

It looked like she was also wearing her Hicks and Brown Suffolk Fedora Hat ($160) and her Cassandra Goad Temple of Heaven Earrings ($3,407).

Now let’s look at the autumn styles of some brands that the Princess has preferred over the years. We start with LK Bennett. We know the princess loves polka dot prints and there are many options available. On the left, I show the Tallis Print Pleated Shirt Dress ($237), followed by the Navy and Cream Polka Dot Mathilde Silk Tea Dress ($476), then the Celestia Lace Applique Tiered Dress ($520). On the right, I’ve included a dress worn by the Princess that is still in stock, the green polka dot Mortimer dress ($520); It was first worn during engagements in mid-December 2018.

The British retailer offers a series of soft, airy and diaphanous designs. On the left, the Erin Pink Watercolor Dress ($580), also available in sizes petite, the Selina Print Dress ($380), and on the right, the Flora Wildflower Print Dress ($636).

LK Bennett offers several dresses at a more affordable price, including the black Halina dress ($300) seen on the left, which has a touch of Eponine. In the center, the Alexis Wool Crepe Shift Dress ($287) and to the right, the Lila Tuck-Front Dress ($180).

There are also tailored designs, including the Nina Peplum Jacket ($380), the Mariner Jacket ($440), and the Christie Belted Wool Coat ($795).

In the footwear category, there are some decent replicated styles. On the left, the Marissa Suede espadrille ($295), similar to the Russell & Bromley Cocount espadrilles worn by the princess. Next up, a lower-heeled substitute for the Monsoon Fleur wedges, the Evii Espadrille wedge ($350). Additionally, three styles that the princess frequently wore are still available, the Fern (3.9″ heel, $325), the Floret (3.3″ heel, $325), and the Sledge ($325).

Last week we looked at the impact of Alexander McQueen’s designs on the Welsh costume process. If you continue to use the brand, there are styles similar to some you already own and variations of those designs. This fall, Leaf Crepe separates are offered in several colors. Below left, I’m showing the Leaf Cold Shoulder Crepe Jacket in Black ($2,590), followed by the Ivory Double Breasted Cropped Jacket ($3,400) and Double Pleat Wide Leg Pants ($1,350). At the center is a shrunken version of the custom-made jacket, the Shattered Jet Stone Embroidered Jacket ($10,200). The jacket has also been updated in a longer length with wider shoulders, as seen on the Lust Red Single Breasted Jacket ($2,490). You can see even more dramatic proportions in the Stacked Shoulder Single-Breasted ($2,890) on the far right.

Many of you will remember the custom-made Alexander McQueen Prince of Wales check dress worn during the state visit to Singapore in 2014.
