Food52 CEO Erika Ayers Badan is an expert on many things (and we’re not just saying that because she’s our boss), but she doesn’t pretend to be an expert in the kitchen. That’s why, in our new video series, Erika learnsShe turns to her favorite food-loving friends for helpful guidance.
In the first episode, Erika invites Emmy-winning talk show host Tamron Hall and Emmy and James Beard-winning chef and food producer Lish Steiling to guide her through a dish from her new cookbook. A confident cook: recipes for cooking in a fun, joyful and pressure-free way.
“It’s a cookbook that we’re proud of, but it’s also a story of friendship,” Tamron says in the video. “It’s a story[about how]no matter how confident we seem in our everyday lives, we all struggle with self-confidence.”
Watch as the trio prepares the book’s chicken thighs with dates and olives recipe, while Erika asks important questions like “What is a mirepoix?” and coins the term “party oil.”
