We had some friends over for dinner this weekend, so I got an education on how to serve pieces I don’t have, don’t have enough of, or need in better versions. The shoemaker’s children don’t have shoes. And the children of the company founder don’t have glasses, not enough plates, just a handful of bowls and a shortage of candle holders.

Here is my wish list:

Patricia Wells, former food critic of the Tribune of the International Herald and author of the seminal books The Food Lover’s Guide To Paris and Bistro Cooking, didn’t have this problem.
