A new reissue of Dansk and a collaboration with Clare V. to celebrate

As much as I’d like to fool myself into thinking it’s still summer, the crisp air, packed September schedules, and the intrusion of Halloween candy at my local Key Food suggest otherwise. To alleviate this grim reality, I bring you spiced lamb, a hearty salad, a comforting pear and almond cake, and what follows next…

We’ve brought back more gems from the Dansk archive, this time two trivets by Gunnar Cyrén, the celebrated Swedish designer who resisted working for Dansk for a long time but went on to create over 300 designs for the company. The original trivets were made of plastic and designed for outdoor entertaining; we’ve upgraded them with cast iron, making them more durable and, well, useful!

You can read more about the elusive Cyrén here and see one of his cutlery designs, which is used at the annual Nobel Prize dinners.

Last week was a big moment for our sister brand Schoolhouse, the Portland-based lighting and furniture company. It launched a home collection in collaboration with fashion company Clare V. Among the 20 pieces are a striped sofa, brightly colored task lamps, and jaguar-print rugs. The New York Times I thought it was all very pretty. And we had a lively little party at the Clare V. store in West Hollywood. You can see the collection here. Some of my favorite pieces: the task lamp, the lumbar pillow, and the shag plaid rug.

Our Director of Content, Josh Young, and his team have been busy filming new Food52 cooking shows. Our latest, Yes, Chefjust debuted and check it out Erika learnswhere our CEO gets a crash course in culinary arts. Lesson #1: Skillet Chicken Thighs with Dates and Olives with Tamron Hall and Lish Steiling.

As promised, some highlights from my sourcing trip to Paris and Antwerp with Food52 GM Jojo:
