Love & Lemons Cooking Club – November!

Join the Love & Lemons Cooking Club Challenge this month! It’s easy to enter and one lucky winner will receive a prize. Find all the details below.

Our Cooking Club is a fun way to celebrate the Love & Lemons reader community. The concept is super simple: every month I choose a recipe. You do it and leave a comment on the recipe blog post. At the end of the month, I randomly select a winner to receive a prize.

I love the sense of community that comes from so many people cooking a recipe each month. Today we start our November challenge with our mashed potatoes recipe and I hope you’ll join the fun. This is how it works:

Join the Love & Lemons Cooking Club

  1. Each month, I choose a seasonal recipe. Sign up for our email list to know as soon as I share each month’s recipe.
  2. Make that recipe during the month.
  3. Leave a comment on the challenge recipe blog post before the end of the month. This time, the deadline is November 30th!
  4. For an extra entry, send a photo of what you made to [email protected]. (Notice: this is a NEW email address!)
  5. For another bonus entry, post your photo to Instagram, tagging @amorandlemons and #loveandlemons cooking club.

The prize: a $100 Whole Foods gift card!

At the end of the month, I’ll select a random winner and share some of your photos. This time we give away a $100 Whole Foods gift card.

Plus, for every entry we receive, we’ll donate $1 to No Kid Hungry.

Creamy Pot Mashed Potatoes

As soon as November rolls around, I start thinking about Thanksgiving. Anyone else?

I change my menu a little every year, but there is always one dish: mashed potatoes. My husband Jack can’t get enough of them!

I started making this NEW recipe last year and it quickly became our go-to. I think you’ll love it too, so it’s this month’s cooking club recipe! Prepare it for the holidays themselves, for a Friendsgiving at the beginning of the month, or for any November dinner.

Some quick tips:

  • The best potatoes to use are russets or Yukon Golds. A combination of the two is great too!
  • You can make these ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave or oven at 350°F.
  • Make them vegan using vegan butter and your favorite non-dairy milk.
  • Jack devours these potatoes with what he affectionately calls “lake of butter” on top, but I prefer them with mushroom sauce. Load yours however you want!

Last month’s recipe

Last month we made these chocolate chip cookies. 143 Many of you commented on the post, so we will donate that amount to No Kid Hungry. Thanks for joining!

One of my favorite things about this recipe is that it calls for melted butter instead of softened (I ALWAYS forget to let the butter soften before baking). Many of you commented that this was your first time making chocolate chip cookies with melted butter:

  • From Brandon: “Incredibly simple but delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe! Very easy to follow. I love the melted butter ingredient. The sweet and salty flavor is perfect.”
  • From Rachel: “I admit I was skeptical about using melted butter, but with refrigeration it worked and didn’t spread while baking. I love that I don’t have to think ahead to prepare the butter to soften and I can make it in the morning and bake it as a dessert for dinner after work.”

I’m so glad you liked this shortcut and I hope you come back to the recipe! These are some of their cookies:

And congratulations to Angie, our winner!
