The Food52 Cookbook Club has been “meeting” for over seven years on Facebook. Now we are finally meeting in real life! Together with New York Cookbook Club organizer Stephanie Lau, we’ll be hosting a Cookbook Club Friends Action on Thursday, November 14 with special guest Hetty Lui McKinnon. You don’t need to be a member to join us, but you’ll want to grab a copy of Hetty’s book. tender heartor hunt some of it tender heart online recipes (we can help!).
We will be bringing and sharing dishes from this IACP Award-winning cookbook that our members have been cooking as our “Book of the Year.” It is a love letter to vegetarian cuisine and the products that Hetty’s father sold and shared with family and friends, with an emphasis on Asian-influenced flavors and techniques. Their sweet and savory recipes cover 22 vegetables in total, including fall favorites like squash, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower. It’s the perfect book to dig into before Thanksgiving and find your new favorite main dish, side, or dessert for this year’s holiday.
We will send you a sign-up sheet once you register to share the dish you wish to bring. (Hetty will also be bringing a plate and signing cookbooks, so bring your copy of tender heart and your other titles from your shelves). You will have access to our Test Kitchen ovens to heat things up, but we ask that you bring your dish already prepared and list the ingredients on the cards we provide.
