Necessary Supplies
- Floral fabric
- 1/2″ or narrower elastic
- Sewing machine (if you prefer, you can sew by hand or use fabric glue).
- Needle and thread
- Fabric scissors
Step by step tutorial
1. Cut a 10″ x 36″ piece of floral fabric
2. Fold in half, right sides together, and sew with a 1/2″ inside seam, leaving a 3″ opening near one end.
3. Push one end of the tube through the pipe until it meets the other end.
4. Sew the tube openings together with a 1/2″ inside seam.
5. Turn the circle right side out through the opening you left.
6. Cut a 7″ piece of elastic and thread it through the hair tie using a safety pin.
7. Sew the ends of the elastic together.
8. Close the opening by hand sewing it!
Done! Pair with your favorite summer dresses to add instant color and print.
Oversized Seamless Scrunchie
Want to make a giant no-sew scrunchie? Just use fabric glue instead of sewing in each step above. It will turn out just as pretty. Make sure to follow the package instructions and let it dry completely between each step.
How to wear an oversized scrunchie
Wear your oversized scrunchie with a low ponytail, a high ponytail or a low bun. Pair it with a t-shirt and jeans or a summer dress.
Perfect for running errands, date night, the beach, and of course, a garden party!
